Last night I caught some basketball action,NBA the best league in the world. The Los Angeles Lakers were in Houston to face the Rockets. The Harden-James duel intrigued me the most. Two MVPs,but it was Harden that inspired the Rockets to a 112-97 victory in this Western Conference Sefmi game 1. The highlight for me was the monster dunk by King James and his block and steal on Westbrook. Despite this Houston’s 3 point shooting proved to be the difference. P.S Nike please give Rondo new shoes. It was like watching bambi on ice.
Over to Europe, the UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE got underway with some mouth watering ties. Germany VS Spain and Iceland VS England. Starting off with England’s trip to scandinavia,England gave debuts to Manchester youngsters Greenwood and Foden. They both put in decent performances in an otherwise forgettable encounter. Both teams tried their damnedest to make me fall asleep. The game suddenly came alive when England won a penalty in minute 89. Rahim Sterling duly converted to give England some pride back after the Euro 2016 humiliation by the same opponents. Germany was more impressive despite being held at home by Spain 1-1. Gaya for Spain cancelled out Werner’s opener. And yes the Spain goal was legit no offsides.
Back to the US,at the US Open Serena Williams beat her friend and compatriot Sloane Stephens edging her close to the Holy Grail. Andy Murray moved closer to retirement succumbing to youngster Felix Augur-Aliasimme from Canada in straight sets.
