CARABAO CUP:CHELSEA VS ASTON VILLA

It has taken a team fielding some of their youth team players to finally give Chelsea a run for their money. Archer was a constant threat for the Chelsea defense giving Chalobah in particular a torrid time. Two great headed goals in this match, but the best was scored by Archer. The penalty shoot out selection for Villa was questionable. Why did Nakamba end up being one of the takers when he doesn’t have a record of taking spot kicks? If you check out the kick again you see Kepa moving very early but Nakamba sins straight at Kepa nonetheless. The myth on spot kicks is that you make up your mind before the kick where you are going to place it. I think that it’s nonsense. You are allowed to change your mind depending on the actions of the keeper, kind of like how Lukaku executed his spot kick.

Great performance from the Villa backline manned by Hause and Konsa which performed admirably especially when Lukaku came in and never allowed him a clear cut chance.
