LA LIGA:VALENCIA VS ALAVES

Valencia had a season to forget in 2020/2021. Finishing 13th in La Liga for a side who have once played a Champions League final isn’t acceptable. They have gone for a rebuild of the squad for this season under ex Getafe coach Jose Bordalas. After winning this one against Alaves they headed to the top of the table. One thing to admire about Los Che is that they have always had a style of playing which is an attacking wing play philosophy and they never deviate from that. Look at their first goal by Danish International Daniel Wass. Wasting no time(3 minutes to be precise), the interchange on the left wing involving Cheryshev showed the level of understanding between a left winger and a left back(Gaya). A formidable attack able to compete with the best in La Liga, that is what Valencia has with their twin attackers Guedes and Maxi Gomez.

Alaves on the other hand were limited to half chances throughout this one. Guidetti deserves full marks for effort and improvisation with that overhead attempt although it takes a lot to beat Mamardashvili with that kind of tame effort. The Georgian keeper on loan from Dinamo Tblisi has been the find of the season in my opinion having pulled remarkable saves in the first two matches of the season. The improvisation from Soler resulted in Valencia’s second just before half time before Guedes put the icing on a sweet night for Los Che. A hint of a foul by Gomez in the build up? Six and a half , half a dozen on another day VAR would have chopped that off. 2021/2022 is open season as regards to the La Liga title with the two Clasico teams also rebuilding somewhat, Valencia with seven points now are off to a decent start in that quest to break the Atletico-Real-Barca axis.
