The test of a champions’ character really comes out when he is down. Primoz responded to Stage 10’s crash with a show of brutal leg strength, beating Margus Cort to the Stage 11 win. This stage saw a ramp finish at Valdepenas de Jaen with 136km being a manageable distance. The imposing 24 percent gradient produced an epic finish involving all the GC riders. Margus Cort ran out of steam in the final 200 meters as Jumbo Visma’s tactic of energy preservation paying dividend. Enric Mas and Lopez were part of the final kilometer bursts as well. What really did it for Roglic was waiting to attack the steepest part of the climb. Cort probably burst out way too soon in my honest opinion at 1.2 km given than the huge steep ramp was soon to come. Odd Christian Eiking still has the overall lead after finishing 10th 11 seconds behind Roglic. With the mountains of the final week to come Roglic will go for it
