PLAY OF THE WEEK

Danny Ings has been in and around the top 10 goal scorers in the premier league for the past two seasons. He had his fair share of injuries which affected his career at Liverpool but his move to Southampton really rejuvenated his career. He struck 14 goals for the Saints last season prompting the big clubs to look his way. This summer he moved to Villa Park and that signing from the Birmingham side looks like it is the bargain of the season. His goal against Newcastle makes the play of the week NOT BECAUSE it is an overhead kick but because it shows a striker who can improvise. Take a look at the goal from a fan’s cam. Mat Cash with the long throw, Ings eyes on the ball not the defender. Mings finds Ings(excuse me) with a flicked header. The defenders marking space ahead of him thinking he can’t try something that audacious. Ball is behind Ings so he has to twist his body to get purchase on the ball. Not quite Rooney VS Man City but a good watch nonetheless. Ings for England?
