Mark Cavendish won his third stage of the Tour De France after yet another masterful spring finish. The 191 km stage at Valence which had only three climbs follows a rest day and the riders looked fresh as ever. No solo final breakaway in this one. Mark outsprinting Van Aert and Philipsen in the final 100 meters. The number of crashes which characterized the opening stages have gone down although they were a few minor ones, nothing to write home about. Check out the Bike Exchange guy giving Sonny Colbrelli a boost after a mechanical problem. The wind makes it difficult to pickup speed directly from a stationery position.
Now for the finish. Watch as Cavendish keeps extreme left making sure no one gets past him but he is careful not to crash into Van Aert. This is Mark’s 33rd stage win of his career and one off the world record. Tadej Pogacar still leads the GC standings 2 minutes ahead of Ben O’Connor with Rigoberto Uran a further 5 minutes behind in third. Sprints get you bragging rights but do not do anything for you as far at the GC standings are concerned. Mark is 148th a full 1 hour 46 minutes being Taddy.
