EURO 2020:SCOTLAND VS CZECH REPUBLIC

First match for the Scots at a major tourney in a generation. Heartbreak for the HOME NATION as Czech Republic underlined their status as the team to watch in this tournament. Scotland boasting a host of premier league players led by Captain and Liverpool full back Robertson and Manchester United’s McTominay whilst the Czech’s had West Ham’s Soucek and Coufal and the match winner in this one ex Roma striker Schick.

On the balance of play Scotland should have got the win here. Watch the chances that they got in the first half AND SQUANDERED. First from Dykes and then Robertson. If you had to pick the weakest link in the Scots’ amour you had to pick the center back position occupied by Grant Hanley. The first goal shows the Czechs exploiting this weakness. Simple one two soccer on the wing finished off with Schick powering a header past Marshall with Hanley not challenging the Czech striker at all. Although the Scots hit the shots on target stat only 4 times they had the best chances in the second half the best falling to Jack Hendry in minute 47 with Jack Hendry.

Then the shocking moment of the match. Check out minute 51. Ball breaks loose in midfield and its anyone’s ball. Schick got to it just inside the Scot’s half, spots Marshall way off his line, unleashes a curler cum chip to score one of the best goals the tournament has ever seen. If the shot had been made five meters before we would have been in David Beckham versus Wimbledon territory or Xabi Alonso Street. Go ahead hit that replay button its worth it. Scots laid siege to the Czech goal after this but could not find the goal. Czechs topping Group D ahead of England on goal difference followed by Croatia and Scotland with zero points. Next up for the Scots its England at Wembley on Friday. Wouldn’t they love to put one over the Auld Enemy.
