Stage 7 Time Trial won by Colombian Rigoberto Uran. He trounced second placed Jullian Alaphilippe by 40 seconds and Gino Mader finishing third. Yellow jersey holder Carapaz had a commanding 1 minute 11 lead atop the general classification ahead of Uran but Carapaz’s poor showing saw that lead cut to just 17seconds, with Alaphilippe only 39 secs behind in third.
This was a tricky TT as there was a initial 10km climb and a fast 11 km descent. This called for riders to go for it in the ascent such that when the descent comes around it will more or less be academic. The oscillating nature of the course gave riders a headache as to what bike to choose,a long valley bike or a special flat surface TT bike.
