We toast the little guy today David, the guy no one gave a prayer of winning, the guy who slayed the Goliath who had a multi-billion dollar suit of armor in PSG. Yes Lille are the champions of France and boy did they earn it. FACING A MUST WIN encounter at Angers, they cannot be blamed for being a little cautious in their play. Canadian starlet Jonathan David calmed the nervous in the 10th minute with his 13th goal of an unforgettable season. The pass from another rejuvenated player, Renato Sanches formerly of Bayern set Jonathan on his way. In every sport you need that little bit of good fortune. The penalty decision is such that there was a clear and obvious error on the part of the ref there, Jonathan went over Angers keeper Bernardoni and made the most of a slight touch by him. Watch the footage again, Bernardoni actually pulled out of the challenge and David went down like a ton of bricks. Frank Abagnale would be proud of Jonathan David.

Another player of the season contender Burak Yimlaz of Turkey made and mistake from the spot making sure Lille had only to be pragmatic and see out the second half. Renato should have made the game safe in the second half ballooning over with one of Lille’s five shots at goal with keeper to beat.As we have seen in England and Spain, teams with nothing to play for just like to make life tough for those who want to win things Angers made life that much difficult by scoring in injury time through Fulgini. Well directed header making the last moments ever so nervy for Lille with PSG winning 2-0 at Brest. LOSC held on though to spark wild celebrations. Lille winning their title since 2011, their fourth overall.
