UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE:MBAPPE BRACE SINKS BAYERN

It was a blizzardy Munich night. The challengers to the Kings throne marched into the City in their revenge filled splendor. The pain of the narrow defeat last August still etched in memory. The Prince of world football led the French band of heroes.

Kylian Mbappe underlined his reputation as the best in the world with a double to put PSG in command of their quarter final tie against defending champions Bayern. Manuel Neuer’s third minute howler let in Mbappe’s first, the ball finding its way between the Germany number one’s legs. The second in minute number 28 from Marquinhos looked offside at first glance but VAR deemed it legit(Who are we as unwashed peasants to question the all mighty lord video assistant referee). Bayern looked to the aerial ability of ex-PSG striker Choupo-Moting for goals in the absence of Gnabry and Lewandolski. The Cameroonian did just that in the 37th minute with an unstoppable header past Navas.

The champs leveled things up after half time, again from a header this time from Thomas Muller on the hour mark. 2-2 seemed the fairest result given the shifting balance of play. The prince had other ideas. Using the bodies in his way as props for the goal, he dummied and shimmied and found the gap between Boateng’s legs and between Neuer and his right hand post for the winner. The defending champs will regroup for next week’s second leg needing to score twice or a high scoring win with a difference of two goals to progress. They need their knight(Lewandolski back urgently).
