UEFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS:GERMANY VS NORTH MACEDONIA

There is some voices among Die Maanschaft fans that Joachim Low has overstayed his welcome as Germany manager. Last night defeat from surprise Euro 2020 qualifiers North Macedonia certainly vindicated this assertion. There is so much bad that can come out of announcing a manager’s resignation in advance. For one, the players do not try as hard as they would because they know the manager is leaving at the end of the day so why would they even try to impress him?Germany lose at home in the world cup qualifiers for the first time since England beat them 5-1 in Munich in 2001. The Macedonia’s can hold their heads up high knowing that they beat a team who had a perfect record in qualifying for Russia 2018, they won 10/10. Goran Pandev(37 years of age), who like the energizer bunny seems to go on and on,shocked the Germans in first half injury time. The North Macedonians knew their place as the undergoes going into this match so they happily sat back and waited to catch Germany on the break.Germany should have been out of sight in the first half given the chances they squandered. Amateurish defending from Emre Can whose failure to push up in the offside trap cost Germany the Pandev goal.

The pressure from the wings by Germany finally paid dividend, Sane drawing the foul from Alioski. Gundogan made no mistake to level things up. The match then took the pattern of the first half with North Macedonia in truth looking to secure a valuable point. Timo Werner’s open goal miss on 79 minutes showed that he is a striker who is well short of confidence and will struggle to fill the void left by Miroslav Klose. The sucker punch by the Macedonians came from Elmas five minutes after.German defense caught cold by the square ball. I will sign off with two insights for you. One, the top six goal scorers in the German Bundesliga are not German, so surprise surprise the national team is struggling for goals. Two, Joachim Low should vacate his post ASAP to make way for the new coach to get his stamp on this team before the Euro 2020.
