MIAMI OPEN:MEDVEDEV VS POPYRIN

A cramped up Daniil Medvedev (1st seed) beat Australian Alexei Popyrin against all odds when it looked increasingly like he was done in.How did the Russian manage to do that? His opponent allowed him to win. Watch 5-4 final set 15-15. Not taking anything away from Daniil, who served magnificently by the way,Alexei made no serious attempt to play on the offensive, making defensive shots straight at Daniil. The Aussie probably felt a measure of guilt, not wanting to win THAT WAY. This is great to see and shows what type of player Alexei is. Daniil’s cramps could have most likely been due to dehydration with the hot temperatures that are prevailing in Miami.Got to admire the fighting spirit of the Russian though.
