ABN AMRO WORLD TENNIS TOURNAMENT DAY 3

World number 3 Daniil Medvedev produced an unprofessional performance to bow out of Rotterdam in Round of 16 at the hands of Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic.. Visibly irked by a decision by the umpire, the Russian missed the chance to go above Rafa Nadal into second in the ATP rankings. He served 25 unforced errors during the match and eight double faults. Daniil had a great first set, forehand winners galore, only losing it on a tie break. Match came to an ugly turn in the second set 1-0 up and 15-40 down with Lajovic serving. It became clear that Daniil in protest to the umpire starting deliberately making wayward shots for example watch the clip below at advantage Lajovic in the deuce game 1-0. Check out 1-1(up 40-15), hits backhand and turns his back on his opponent in a show of disrespect to him. Daniil is talented and i believe he had all the arsenal to win this encounter without behaving this way. Dusan broke in the eight game at 4-4, Daniil hitting a crazy double double fault at 15-30 down.

Sasha Zverev of Germany is also out of the tournament, at the hands of Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan.Zverev looked on course for the first set after going a break up at 4-3. A brilliane forehand shot down the line however set up break point for Bublik at 15-30. Bublik knew when to go on the offensive. Check out how he turns defense into attack in the blink of an eye with Zverev serving to stay in the set up down 5-6(30-40). 7-5 to Bublik first set. In the second Bublik apologetically won the break in the eighth game via a net cord at 4-3 and duly served it out 6-3. Andrey Rublev won his Round of 16 encounter with Briton Andy Murray to at least save the day for Russia. Andy’s kick serve was a disaster as shown in the eleventh game of the first set. He would lose it 7-5. Point of the match. Murray serving 2-2 down 30-40. Andrey does well to stay in the rally, making great returns with Murray in control of the point using good forehand shots. Then boom one poor back hand shot then Rublev grabs control of the rally. Rublev would break again and wrap up the match 6-2.
