CHAMPIONS LEAGUE:SEVILLA VS DORTMUND

Dortmund produced the result of the night in the UEFA champions league away at Sevilla. Under the guidance of a new manager Edin Terdic following the sacking of Lucien Favre, they came back from a goal down to eventually win 3-2 thanks to two goals from boy wonder Haaland. Trailing to a goal through a deflection by Suso in the seventh minute, Dortmund replied in the 19th minute through Dahoud. It was a hammer of a shot from outside the box giving Bono no chance in the Sevilla goal. The sequence of play that followed showed how Dortmund will shape up with their new manager, that is soak in the pressure not over commit and look to hit opponents on the break.

The first of the Haaland goals was bravery by the forward. The flick pass to the space meant the ball was basically fair game between the keeper Bono and Haaland. The Norwegian risking injury went in for the ball and got there first. 2-1 Dortmund after 27 minutes. It was 3-1 two minutes before half time. Catching out Sevilla on the quick break, the speedy Reus fed Haaland who slid the ball past the exposed Bono. In the second half , Dortmund’s centre back partnership of Akanji and Hummels stood firm again the onslaught. That is until the 83rd minute when Luuk De Jong got to the end of a a teasing cross from a free kick to make it 3-2 to Dortmund. With 3 away goals Dortmund are in the drivers seat for the last eight although they most certainly have to keep Sevilla from scoring to make it.
