CHAMPIONS LEAGUE:FC BARCELONA VS PSG

PSG all but booked their place in the last 8 of this years champions league with an emphatic victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou. I say all but because as we have seen with the history of these two sides one can never be sure can they? Barca were fortunate to say the very least to get a penalty to open the scoring. Frankie de Jong looked like he was tripped in his stride by Kurzawa whilst to be fair to the PSG defender there was no contact from where I was sitting. Leo Messi thumped the spot kick in the 27th minute past former Real Madrid keeper Navas for 1-0 Barca. PSG who had the least of the ball in terms of possession, which is not a surprise as they were playing the best team ever at maintaining possession, struck back 5 minutes later through Mbappe who wiggled past a static Barca defense to slam home.

Poor defending particularly from Bernabeu who first failed to push up in the offside trap and then failed to clear the square ball gave Mabappe the opportunity tp score Paris’s second. More poor defending from Barca . this time from a set piece free kick, led to on loan Everton striker Moise Kean to score a free header for 3-1 PSG. If you take a look at the clip you will see Lenglet letting De Jong know with his thump to take on the Kean behind him which De Jong did not do leading to the goal. Like their humbling by Bayern last season in Portugal, Barca did not know how to cope with the quick fire counter. Their miserable night completed by Mbappe from such a counter. Who is o blame this time? Lenglet had pushed out too far here exposing his team to a 3 on two counter. Why did he push out so far? The game was lost anyway at 3-1 better take a two goal assailable deficit to Paris right? Nooo not Lenglet he wanted to get the goal so bad.
