Two games stood out for me in Italy at the weekend, Inter finally winning against Juventus 2-0 after a near 4 year wait. Napoli turning on the 6 star performance at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples. Let me start with the big one, the derby ditalia at the San Siro. Arturo Vidal a former Juve title winner, came back to bite his former side with a towering header on 12 minutes from a Barella cross on the right flank. Juve had earlier had a goal disallowed for offside, CR7 the architect there. When you have Lukaku(with his speed and power) in your side and the opposition has aging defenders(Chiellini and Bonucci) you can rest assured you have a chance or two. Where was Chiellini and Bonucci in the build up to Barella smashing home Inter’s second. Probably planning where they will sit on the bus on their way to Turin. Best chance of the second half for Juve fell on Chiesa whose shot on the floor was expertly palmed away by Handanovic.
Chiesa’s former side Fiorentina had a day to forget in Naples. They stood by and watched as Insigne put the home side in front after 5 minutes. What on earth was Castrovilli doing?2-0 Napoli on 36 minutes. Mexican International Lozano comically was allowed through by Igor, raising his arms as if to say I am at fault here(did someone say he meant offside?)3-0 Napoli 38 minutes. The 10 minutes of hell was completed by Zielenski on the stroke of half time. Castrovilli again slipping as if he was playing on ice.4-0 Napoli. Why did La Viola bother to show up? One has to feel sorry for their goalkeeper Dragowski, after pulling off a great save from a curler from the impressive Insigne, his defender Castrovilli goes on to inexplicably bring down Bakayoko with no danger on goal. Why didnt the coach just put him out of his misery at half time, Castrovilli. Insigne dispatched the spot kick for 5-0 after 72 minutes. Is there a jail we can put the Fiorentina defense because the defending was surely criminally negligent. Politano had a Sunday afternoon stroll in the park for Napoli’s sixth. La Viola lucky there were no fans in the stadium.
