Schalke after 15 games of asking finally won their first game of the season against fellow strugglers Hoffeinhem on Saturday.Arsenal fans will be familiar with Sead Kolasinac. He is back with Schalke on loan and his impact was immediately felt in the royal blues team. The classy chip by hat trick hero Hoppe was the pick of the bunch for the first goal for Schalke.Hoppe made the goalkeeper look rather silly with his second goal. Why could not Hoffeinhem keeper Baumann just stay on his feet longer? The third well lets just say the Hoffeinhem defense was all over the show and could not deal with the pace of Hoppe.Amit Harit added a little gloss to the score line on 79 minutes.4-0 to Schalke it finished. They are off the bottom in 19th spot on the log 6 points from safety.
The match of the weekend saw two high fliers Leipzig and Dortmund take each other head on. Guess who was the star of the show. Haaland’s brace was complemented by Jadon Sancho’s goal for a 3-1 win at the Red Bull Arena. First on the score sheet was England international Sancho on 55 minutes after some neat play in the build up, back heels and all. The second goal from Haaland was right out of the FC Barcelona under Pep playbook. Short passes mesmerized the Leipzig defense, with the header at the far post from Haaland.2-0 to the Ruhr valley club. Again why cant goalkeepers in one on one situations with a striker just stay on their feet a little bit longer it makes a difference. Just look at Haaland’s goal for 3-0. Gulasci went down a little early for my liking. Marco Reus superb. He is back and back is good for Dortmund. Angelino’s cross for sub Sorloth was well saved by Burki on 88 minutes but the Norwegian latched onto the rebound for the consolation for Leipzig.3-1 to Dortmund at the end. Leipzig missed put on top spot, and capitalize on Bayern’s result against Gladbach.
Which brings me to my last match. Bayern going down surprisingly at Galdbach on Friday night. Bayern were cruising in the first half.2-0 up after 26 minutes from a pen by Lewandolski and Leon Goretzka’s pile driver. A Jonas Hoffman double and Neuhas belter gave the home side a memorable comeback win.
