PREMIER LEAGUE ROUND UP TUESDAY

Leeds produced the performance of Tuesday night hammering Big Sam’s West Brom 0-5 at the Hawthorns. The gap between the two sides who finished first and second in the championship last season was so palpable one could see the direction each was headed. The first goal was enough to knock any confidence they may have felt after their hard fought draw at Anfield off for good. A comical Own goal by Sawyers was NOT what the doctor ordered for the struggling Baggies. The second was a thunderbolt from Alioski(31″), slow defending, slow covering , slow everything.2-0 Leeds. The Whites had a Barcelona-at-their-peak-like 762 passes in this game and they bested West Brom at every department. Harrison made a fool out of the Furlong twisting in and out. Rodrigo Moreno had the luckiest goal of the lot, his shot deflecting past the hapless Johnstone. Forth heaven for Leeds at half time. Raphinha underlined his growing rep with a left foot curler from outside the 18 on 72 minutes.A calamitous night for big Sam. He has work to do.

Wolves had nothing to show for their disciplined display at Old Trafford last night. They deserved the point that Rashford stole from them in injury time at the end of the match. But as soccer goes you make your own luck and the England man made his by shooting his shot whether he was lucky or not does not count.United looked tired, playing their third match in the space of a week. Pogba had his better game for United and he lasted the whole game. Saiss was colossal for Wolves popping up for set pieces in the United box as well as expertly repelling attacks spearheaded by Fernandes and Cavani. It was such an injustice when Rashford’s shot deflected off him for the only goal. Moutinho was also good for the midlands team effectively nullifying Fernandes for large swaths of the game. United up to second only 2 points off Liverpool. Who would have thought it hey?

Ben Mee headed Burnley to the win against bottom club Sheffield United who cannot buy a win to save their lives at the moment. Its not like they are not competitive, not at all they so not have players that influence games. The strikers are just not scoring. The January window gives Wilder the opportunity to buy a creative midfielder and one more potent striker, that is if he is still around to do it.Burnley are not the prettiest of sides but they know how to get the result. Arsenal have turned the corner at last winning their second match in a row for the first time since the opening two games of the season. Sub Lacazette scoring past Sanchez with the only goal of the game. What is it that they are doing differently all of a sudden?Rowe. As I was saying in past posts the solutions to their woes lie within their ranks or in the January window. Mikel seemed to have opted for the former. The youngster is attack minded and has the right mentality. In 2 starts Arsenal have got to wins when he is in what other stat do you need to convince you.
