I feel like jumping for joy right now. The not so hopeless New York Jets finally RECORDED a victory this season. This was so thanks to the defensive solution that is Neville Hewitt who was toe to toe with the Rams’ Troy Reeder with 7/3 for tackles and assisted tackles to Reeders 7/4. The fired up Jets looked to take the initiative with Sam Arnold looking to find the killer throw early. They got their deserved TD from Ty Johnson running to the corner of the Rams’ EZ with everyone thinking he had run the ball out before reaching the zone.
That was five minutes before the end of the first quarter. It stayed like that until the second.Surging 10-0 ahead from the boot of Sam Ficken and 13-0 from the Sam man. Things looking rosy for the men from the big apple. The Rams finally got on the score sheet with the second quarter winding down from the boot of Matt Gray. Sam Gore powered his way past the mass of humanity to score a TD and extend the lead for New York to 20-3.His figures were 23 carries and 59 yards. This seems to spark the Rams to life. Tyler Higbee had the most yards for a receiving player in the match. 67 in total. They got their TD , which was the best of the match, from a throw by Jared Goff to Robert Woods. Jared was toe to toe as well with Sam Darnold(22/34 to Sam’s 22/31). The Jets however went into the last quarter 23-10 ahead thanks to another successful kick from Ficken. That proved decisive.
Despite a spirited effort by the Rams who scored a TD from Higbee and a kick from Gray, they could not overturn the thirteen point deficit. Despite the defeat, the Rams are still second in NFC WEST with 9-5 record. The Jets rock bottom of AFC EAST but they have their pride back.
