Who would have thought the Saints would be fifth on the log pushing hard for top four. Whether they can maintain it is another matter all together. Ralph Hassenhuttl(the Austrian Klopp or Mourinho whichever you like) has them playing a high pressing game similar to Liverpool.Aside from the second half collapse, they had Manchester United on the ropes at half time. They were especially dangerous on set pieces. Against Brighton on Monday they had a goal from Vestergaad again from a corner by James Ward-Prowse. The header was one of those which was so good you cannot blame it on the defenders.
Here is a bit of a shocker. Brighton has more goals and a better goal difference than Arsenal. They are so good going forward. The only problem is clean sheets. They have struggled for them so far this term. The addition of Danny Welbeck has added a robust dimension to their attack. The former Man United striker is very versatile, I remember Ferguson deploying him as a holding man at one point. The circumstance that led to the winner for Southampton is a disgrace to football. Kyle Walker-Peters saw that he was getting no where near the ball and just jumps up for a theatrical fall. The initial contact was outside the box. WHERE WAS THE VAR HERE?I guess this is poetic justice from the Liverpool game huh? It seems VAR has not changed anything in football. The controversies which it was supposed to eliminate keep popping up anyway.
