The grand old fixture of English Football is back in the top flight. As we have seen from previous matches, where there is Leeds there is entertainment. This match did not disappoint.
The visitors took the lead at the Bridge with a 5th minute lead from Chelsea old boy Patrick Bamford. He was put through by England international Kalvin Phillips’s precision pass. Bamford passed the ball beyond the advancing Mendy just past the post into the net.
Zouma labouring to make up. I can count 2 chances whereby the Leeds goal was leading a charmed life. The first not long after the Leeds goal. Werner found himself with goal to feet from a corner. With a meter from the line he somehow found the underside of the cross bar. The second Leeds keeper Meslier passed the ball straight at Giroud whilst trying to find Ayling on the edge of his box. The French striker pulled his shot wide of the Leeds goal. This on 22 minutes. Chelsea equalized on 29 minutes after good overlap from Reece James whose cross met the outstretched boot of Giroud to score past Meslier at his near post.
After the break Chelsea began to assert their dominance. On the hour mark they took the lead from a rare Kurt Zouma header. American Christian Pulisic made the points safe in injury time with a sliding finish. The Blues top of the table at least temporarily with Liverpool and Spurs in action Sunday.
