ARSENAL VS WOLVES

Lets kick off the Sunday review of the premier league with the result of the weekend. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side came away from the Emirates with all 3 points. This is a disappointing result from the Gunners who now languish in 14th on the log with top 4 looking increasingly like a stretch goal.

Players had barely had time to warm up when a nasty clash of heads between David Luiz and Raul Jimenez made the game stop for a good 10 minutes for treatment of the 2 players. Jimenez came off the worse as is the case with these injuries(one invariably gets hit worse) and was substituted by Portuguese young player Fabio Silva. Wolves took the lead on 27 minutes from a typical Adama Traore foray to the byline. His cross met the head of Leander Dendoncker with the ball crashing onto the cross bar. An alert Pedro Neto pounced on the rebound before a static Arsenal defense to score the opener. The Arsenal reply was swift though.

Willian, who has surprisingly started his gunners career slowly, took a corner on 30 minutes, fed it to Bellerin who returned it to the Brazilian. Willian’s brilliant cross into the Wolves boss was headed in magnificently by his country man Gabriel giving Rui Patricio no chance for 1-1. Wolves retook the lead on 42 minutes after again great work from Adama. His turn and pass freed up the impressive Pedro Neto who shot at the edge of the box. Leno could only parry onto the path of onrushing Podence. The Belgian skipped past a diving Gabriel and shot into the net before Leno could react quickly.

What is concerning about the Gunners is their shot accuracy especially from their main man Aubamayeng. He is clearly starved of clean passes. This is were Mesut Ozil comes in handy as a number 10. Arteta may have 2 options. Swallow pride and recall the ex German international. This is highly unlikely. The other is shift Willian to the number 10 position which he played well at Chelsea. This one is more plausible. This I almost guarantee will get more goals for Arsenal. A word on the condition of Jimenez. The Mexican was admitted in hospital for a brain sca. He is said to be responding to treatment and conscious. Concussions typically have a recovery time of 10 days. What is a concussion. It is the vibration of the brain from a blow to the head.
