The Dutch have given themselves a fighting chance of making it to the Nations League finals next year with a comfortable 3-1 win over Bosnia- Herzegovina. The Netherlands must now better the Italians’ result when they face Poland on Wednesday and the Italians face the Bosnians. This was the first win under De Boer for the Dutch. You would not have thought they were a side seeking a first win for their manager with the way they played totally outplayed the Bosnians in the first half. Memphis Depay and Frankie De Jong were the tormenters in chief of the Bosnians. It took only 6 minutes for Holland to score the opening goal after captain Gigi Wijnaldum was set up by the impressive Dumfries. Luk De Jong was unlucky to have a goal chopped off(NO VAR here) with replays showing he was onside making a case of the much beleaguered technology. This was after Gigi had made it 2-0 after 13 minutes. Pjanic had the best chances for the Bosnia.
The shock of the day was Donny Van De Beek being planted on the bench after scoring in the last 2 matches replaced Berghuis of Feyenoord. They need not worry because after the break Depay capped off a good performance with a goal on 55 minutes after again being set up by right back Dumfries. Prevljak with the consolation for the now relegated Bosnia-Herzegovina who were without inspirational captain Dzeko.
