This was my second best game of the weekend after Der Klassiker. Leverkusen won a 7 goal thriller at the BayerArena against Borussia. Lars Stindl, one of German football’s underrated midfielders, put Gladbach into the lead from the penalty spot. Lucas Alario equalized with a curler from the edge of the box. That man Stindl was at it again with good in-box awareness to put Borussia in front once again. Very weak defending from crossing was at fault as Bayer equalized again with a header. This was definitely an avoidable goal.
The second stanza’s opening goal was from Leon Bailey who was allowed by the out of sorts Swiss keeper Sommer to score from an acute angle.Julian Baumglatlinger put the issue beyond doubt with Bayer’s 4th. The goal of the day belonged to Valentino Lazaro with a scorpion kick goal(ALA Giroud and Mkhytaryan) for a consolation for Mochengladbach.
