Best 5 Europa League Finals of the last 25 years

The Europa League is considered a second rate tournament offering lesser known sides an opportunity for glory. Before it was the Europa League ,the tournament was 2 tournaments, the UEFA Cup and the cup winners cup. Today I profile the best finals of the Europa League for the past 25 years. Hope you like it.

5. UEFA CUP FINAL 1998

This one featured 2 Italian sides Inter and Lazio. Inter(With arguably the best did never to have won the Champions League) dominated the game. With players like Ronaldo, Zamorano and Simeone it is not hard to see why. I especially like the “sit down and take notice, goalkeeper” goal by Ronaldo

4. UEFA CUP WINNERS CUP FINAL 1995

Arsenal have had little success in Europe in recent memory and this game illustrates why. School boy errors that happen at the worst of times have been their undoing in European finals. Real Zaragoza’s Nayim exposes a certain England goalkeeper with an outrageous goal. Amazingly the same goalie would repeat the same trick 7 years later at the hands of one convict Ronaldinho 🤭.

3. UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL 2010

Fulham who are struggling near the foot of the current premiership table believe it or not reached a European final in 2010. Managed by Roy Hodgson were not a bad side with players who have played at the highest level like Murphy and Duff. They pushed Atletico Madrid to extra time who had the likes of a young Aguero and Forlan.

2.UEFA CUP FINAL 2003

The special one introduced himself to the world with this cup victory for Porto against Celtic. Mind you the Scottish side didnt roll over and die. They pushed the Spanish side to the limit.

1. UEFA CUP FINAL 2001

Sit back and enjoy watching Liverpool complete a cup treble with a scarcely believable scoreline.
